Since its creation, the strategy of France-IX is to consolidate French-speaking traffic but also to attract international traffic in France. This has been done accordingly with the geographical position of our exchange point which is partly based in Marseille, the landing point of many submarine cables connecting to Africa (Seacom, SeaMeWe-3, SeaMeWe-4, Atlas Offshore, Med cable), to Middle-East (Hawk, IMEWE) and Asia (SeaMeWe-4).
The summer 2012 has been strongly influenced by Africa. France-IX team visited the African Peering Interconnection Forum - AfPIF – late August and met many potential members among the 250 entities present at the event. Another event took place mid-September which is the Capacity Africa, bringing together African and submarine cable operators. During these two events, France-IX highlighted the POP in Marseille and initiated partnerships that should be announcements over the next few months.
