Past Events

The month of October was full of events for France IX team. It participated in NANOG 53 which gathered more than 600 American and foreign operators in Philadelphia in the USA from the 9th till the 12th of October. Afterwards, the team took part in the 19th Euro IX meeting which was held at the “cité internationale” in Lyon on the 17th and 18th of October. That gave our director, Frank Simon, the opportunity to plead the cause of the interconnections between internet exchange points during the big debate. And to close out the tour on a perfect note, France IX celebrated with its partner Lyonix, the ten years of the exchange point of Lyon on last October 20th. Congratulations to Lyonix and Rezopole! From now on as a member of France IX and Lyonix, you may, right now, explicitly apply for access to the interconnection service. More information can be found on the web page.

More than fifty people attended our latest and general assembly on the 30th of September 2011 at Espace Saint Martin in Paris. We thank those who participated because that France IX enabled to validate its first financial period. Two new Points of presence have just been added to the network. First, the POP Iliad Datacenter DC2 located in the region of Paris at Vitry. Then, the POP SFR NetCenter based in Marseille and which is likely to attract the internet flux coming from Asia, the Middle East and Africa thanks to the sub marine cables SEA-ME-WE4, I-ME-WE, EIG to name just a few. France IX is carrying on its strategy of network deployment in order to strengthen the francophone exchanges and increase the international traffic in France.

After Olivier Hussenet’s recruitment in February 2011 as a system engineer and that of Jerome Fleury in April 2011 as a network engineer, the apprentice Marc Mendy has just joined the team as the multimedia project manager.
